5. Directly Address Why You Got Off Track

With a clear understanding of why you are getting off track, you likely have a new concern or problem on your hands. Don’t worry! This problem exists largely because you haven’t directly worked on it. Now you can zero in and stop the problem from interfering with your healthy goals.

To effectively address your hidden agenda

  • Stay aware of the two different priorities. You have your primary goal, and you have an issue which is getting you off track. They are both real, important and require your attention. Now you will be able to direct your focus and effort to each, as needed.

  • Develop strategies to solve the problem. This is where you get to tackle the underlying problem or agenda. There will be different strategies, skills and solutions depending on your particular issue. There is likely to be a great deal of information and helpful resources for you.   • Create an action plan. As you collect ideas and strategies for resolving your hidden agendas, you will need an action plan. The action plan is designed to help you follow through with your ideas and intentions. The action plan should include very concrete and specific things to do, when and how you will do them, and how you will hold yourself accountable for the work.
